It's All in the Details

Yesterday I had to run an errand at City Hall (it's a long story - don't ask.....) and after I was done with my business, I stopped to take a few shots of the lobby and of the great details of the building.  Here's my tour of  the City of Oakland City Hall which was built in 1914....

Outside on Frank Ogawa Plaza is the mighty Oak Tree which was planted in 1917 and which was officially dedicated to Jack London.  I love this tree ..it's where my sister and I hunted for Easter Eggs during the late 50's.

I have re-dedicated this tree it to my Becerra Family - all Oaklanders...

Here's to you Ma, Nana, Tio, Papa Cheyo and Mama Toni....

A Treasure Island View

Last Sunday was a gloriously sunny day here so Louie and I went for a walk around Treasure Island. TI was the location  for the 1939 San Francisco World's Fair (aka Golden Gate International Exposition) and there are fantastic views from any spot on the Island.  During World War Two, it was also pressed into service and transported personnel and supplies.

I snapped this as we were leaving our house..downtown Oakland in foreground....

Bay Bridge leading into SF

Bay waters were very calm...Richmond hills in the background....

There is very little left of the World Fair structures but here are a few..
the architecture was definitely Art Deco.
My mother and her family were there on opening day....

"Open up your Golden Gate, California here I come.."

On the lower span of the Bay Bridge..time to go home...

Out of Town/Out of It

I went through my arsenal of photos and found these shots I took of window displays on College Avenue and other odds and ends and favorites from a couple of months ago....have a peek and have fun!

There's a new Sheriff in Town!

Waiting for Don Draper....and waiting. and waiting.....

Why, Hello to you too!

Now that you mentioned it...yes, I am quite alluring.....

Not from College Avenue but close by.......

I don't know..I thought this was just too cute....!

And one of my most favorites - I took this  photo at the Solano Stroll in Albany.

The Diver

When Louie and I think of our New York visits, we always remember the great dinner we had at Rosa Mexicano a few months ago.    Their killer "made at your table" Guacamole en Molcajete was our favorite and the interior decor is totally estudilo Mejicano.

The restaurant  has an entire water wall of miniature divers that are pretty neat -I think they are modeled after the clavadistas of La Quebrada in Acapulco.... here's my photos..

Close up....

Water wall.....

Here's the Acapulco clavadistas in action (photo courtesy of the Internet...)

Remember to always look before you leap...
and have a good weekend Oakland Breakfasters!

Time Will Tell

There's more than one way to tell time.....

A birthday cake is a fun way to celebrate the passing of time...

Nature tells the season....

The Eiffel Tower announces each evening hour with a spectacular light show

A Mendocino sunset... or is it a sunrise?

Back in the day, one of my favorite songs was
"Does anybody really know what time it is" by Chicago.
Do you remember that one?

This one has been spending too much time
on the computer
(P.S. This NOT  me...yet!)

At the Oakland Marathon, it was a race against the clock...

Speaking of which... I've run out of time..gotta go....
Bye bye OaklandBreakfasters!!
