We're Still Here!

Well, you probably heard that the world was supposed to come to an end this past Saturday (5/21) at 6 PM.  This was according to some goof ball ( in my opinion anyway) right here in my hometown - Oakland!

So to prepare for the "final episode"  I did the following:

1) Had bacon (!!!) and eggs for breakfast...

2) Ate about 2 lbs of cherries... yes, I did!...

3) Returned overdue library books (I wanted to go with a clean record)...

4) Cleaned the bathroom (didn't know who might "drop in" for a visit)...

Anyway, by 6:05 pm it looked like this was gonna be a dud - so I ate RED VINES to celebrate!

How did you celebrate the Day the World Didn't End??

Mexican Chair Factory (aka Two Mexicans and A Whole Lotta Chairs)

So......Yogarden and I have now "retired" our travel company (in case I didn't mention it we have had a travel business for the past 10 years)  and we are now onto new adventures.  This time around, we are rescuing chairs, tables, desks and other small furniture pieces to refresh and send back out to the universe.  All pieces are going out with good Karma, too!

I'll be posting photos of our projects (before and afters) for your viewing enjoyment.  We are still experimenting with surfaces and paint but here is a sample of what we've done so far.  All pieces are for sale (some are already sold) but sorry folks, you must pick up in Oakland...

And here is what our new "office" looks like...

Let me know what you think of the Mexican Chair Factory.
I gotta go wash off the paint I spilled all over me!

Another Drizzly Day

For two days now, it has been grey and drizzly..makes for a perfect.time to take out my photos from Isla Mujeres!

I made the trip a few weeks back and have been waiting for the right moment to post these shots of all the colors I came across.  Isla Mujeres is 45 minutes by ferry from Cancun.

On the way from El Embarcadero departure pier, Cancun...

It's great to be back...

Colorful shades for a colorful place...

If you can fit into one of these...do it!

You can rent a golf cart and take a scenic drive around the island
(45 minutes ride covers the island)

Right on the beach...

In town...

Canary Yellow...

Snail shaped house...

Curb side appeal...

A rooftop...

If you don't have color..then put spots on your house!

 Public benches and wall...

Pink is a typical Isla color...

A cool and breezy walkway...

Iguanas everywhere...

Picture yourself here...

This is what Isla Mujeres is about...the sweet life!

An update:  this posting worked - the sun is now peeking through here in Oakland!!!

KABOOM!

I understand that Blogger went down/broke/exploded on Thursday.  As a result, Thursday's post was erased and gone forever :(

And I worked so hard on it too!

StreetsScenes Friday - Cancun and Puerto Morelos

Photos from sunny and hot Cancun and Puerto Morelos, Mexico last week.
Both cities are in the state of Quintana Roo which I think is a way cool name.
More about both next week...
Have a great weekend Oakland Breakfasters!
